SECUREX-ASIA 2010, held on 4 & 5 March 2010 at the Holiday Inn Singapore Orchard City Centre, sets the stage to be the regional security and investigations conference for private security and investigations industry in Asia.
Themed the Evolution of Security Practices: Emerging Trends & Opportunities, SECUREX-ASIA 2010 has a distinguished panel of speakers that will be chaired by Professor Kris Pillay from the School of Criminal Justice, University of South Africa.
Among the topics discussed will be on terrorism (Professor Kumar Ramakrishnan, Centre of Excellence for National Security Studies at Nanyang Technological University, and Dr Eduardo Fulgencio from the Philippines), paradigm shift in mindset on security issues (Mr DC Nath from International Institute of Security and Safety Management), emotive profiling (Dr Terry Sheridan from Australia), corporate social responsibility (Mr Thomas Thomas, Singapore Compact) and legal implications with our new casino industry (Mr Glenn Knight, Nettowon LLC).
SECUREX-ASIA 2010 is being hosted by the Security Association Singapore. The importance of Singapore’s private security industry as part of Total National Defence is recognised by our Singapore government, and hence Mr Ng Sze Meng, Assistant Director, Security Industry Regulatory Department of the Singapore Police Force will provide the Keynote Address on The Engagement of the Private and Public Sector – Evolution of Private Security Practices in Singapore.
In conjunction with SECUREX-ASIA 2010, the Security Association Singapore will also use this as a platform to present the long service awards for employees who have worked with security agencies over 10 years and above. Despite the evolution of security practices where technology is expected to play a big part, the human factor remains the core asset for any security function. Crimes are committed by people, and the human intelligence and judgement can prevent crime and not just deter it.
The importance of SECUREX-ASIA 2010 in our Asia-Pacific region is recognised by industry associations that support this event. These include International Institute of Security and Safety Management (India), Council of International Investigators (USA), Association of Certified Security Agencies (Singapore), Singapore Compact and the Philippines Society for Industry Security. Other associations from Philippines such as PADPAO, AHSOP, FISOP, BSMA will also be represented during the conference.
SECUREX-ASIA 2010 serves as a meeting point for security practitioners, security professionals and private investigators in Asia to interact and network for business development, share expertise and knowledge on the latest practices to improve organisational security for business continuity. In today’s volatile climate where we face the threat of terrorism, high-tech crimes with the advent of technology, SECUREX-ASIA 2010 is a must attend event for both public and private sector security industry players in Asia if they take security seriously, according to organizers.
